NEW RIDER REGISTRATION aND INFO

By registering to ride in the Bresnan Bike Tour, each rider agrees to raise at least $2,000.   Riders can pay the full amount themselves or seek contributions from supporters.   All checks must be made payable to the "Special Olympics New York (SONY)- Hudson Valley Region".   Because space is limited on this event and we must make certain commitments to assure adequate resources for all riders and crew well in advance of the ride, all first-time riders must post a non-refundable entrance fee of $300 to hold their place in the ride.   If a rider has to cancel their participation in the ride, they will not receive a refund of their entrance fee.   We also expect riders to make an effort to have the bulk of their funds raised prior to the June 10th start date].

PIT STOPS

On Friday, our first pit stop is in Kent, CT, about 24 miles from our
start in Patterson, NY.   We then proceed to Salisbury, CT for lunch, approximately 20 miles away.   Throughout the ride, vans will be positioned periodically along the way to provide water, sport drinks, and light snacks. On Saturday, the first pit stop is outside Williamstown, MA approximately 24 miles from our start in Lenox. We then ride north to Vermont and circle back for lunch at the Williamstown Inn, about 20 miles from the first pit stop.   Again, vans will be all along the route to replenish fluids and snacks.   You can also place a daypack in any of
the vans if you need access to your gear during the course of the day. Medical staff and repair technicians will be leapfrogging the route in vans throughout the day.   Vans are also equipped with spare tubes
and pumps. .

SAG ASSITANCE

Support vehicles will follow the riders throughout the day.   If you are injured or unable to continue, give a "thumbs down" to signal them to stop. The SAG vehicle will transport injured riders and those unable to continue riding to pit stops further along the route or to the finish.

BICYCLE REPAIR

Repair technicians will be available along the route in vans and on bicycle to assist with minor repairs.   Use the "thumbs down" signal to flag a tech vehicle if you need assistance on the road. You should be sure to have your bike tuned a few weeks prior to the ride so you avoid major problems and breakdowns.

MEDICAL EMERGENCY

Immediately report any medical emergency to BRESNAN Bike Tour staff and volunteers at pit stops or on the SAG vehicle.   The SAG vehicle and pit stops will be equipped with cellular phones and radios.   They will have detailed information on local hospitals, emergency facilities, police, and fire departments.   As with any emergency you should also attempt to dial 911, if possible.

WEATHER

In the event of rain, the Bresnan Bike Tour supervisors will use their judgment to determine if conditions are safe for the ride to continue.
The Tour supervisors reserve the right to cancel the ride at any time if they feel that conditions are unsafe.   Riders must comply with the instructions and directions of the Tour supervisors.   When riding in rain or less than optimal conditions, riders must exercise caution.   A toll free telephone number will be listed to provide information in the event of
any departure delays.
